Chair of the ITS World Congress, Hong Jee-sun, Minister of Land, Infrastructure and transport (MOLIT), Republic of Korea, said “Welcome to the ITS World Congress 2026, hosted by the beautiful city of Gangneung, Korea. The 32nd ITS World Congress will be held under the theme, “Beyond Mobility, Connected World”.

ITS integrates transport systems and infrastructure with information and communication technologies (ICT) to enhance safety, efficiency, and convenience. Recent advances in autonomous driving, artificial intelligence (AI), and edge computing have further contributed to reducing traffic accidents and congestion.

Korea has continued to expand infrastructure for autonomous driving, urban air mobility (UAM), and AI-powered cities, while placing the highest priority on creating a safe and convenient transport environment. We are now poised to take mobility innovation to the next level and share our experience and achievements with the international community.

Building on Korea’s experience in hosting the 1998 and 2010 ITS World Congresses in Seoul and Busan, as well as the 2025 Suwon ITS Asia-Pacific Forum, we are committed to making the Gangneung ITS World Congress a truly memorable and successful event. The Congress will serve as a platform to carry forward the momentum of cooperation and innovation witnessed in Suwon, share it with the world, and present a vision for a sustainable future of transport.

We invite you to be part of the “Transport Olympics” in 2026, hosted in Gangneung, a city that carries on the legacy of the PyeongChang Winter Olympics.

Let us come together in Gangneung to build a connected future powered by ITS.”
